Review & FAQ:
Built in the 19th century as a private retreat for King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein Castle was opened to the public after the king's death, and it's one of the most iconic castles in Germany. The rooms are still elaborately furnished, and all visitors are required to take a guided tour, which take approximately half an hour and are offered in both German and English. Audio guides are available in a number of other languages as well. Tickets are only valid for a specific tour time, and it's strongly suggested that you reserve tickets online in advance.
