Signifying "invigorating", Uummannaq was named after it's famous 1175m heart-shaped mountain. The town enjoys over 2000 hours of sunshine each and every year, bringing happiness to those who visit with it's beaming climate. Located on the northern area of Disko Bay, visitors can admire the statement mountain which forms into the shape of a heart. Youngsters will feel in their element here, especially around Christmas time. 'Santa’s Workshop' building from the Danish TV show “Nissebanden in Greenland" can be found. Uummannaq Museum also houses an array of displays including Qilakitsoq mummies, whale exhibitions, and a devotee of Greenlandic historical archaeology.
