Located in the Government District of downtown Dallas, the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library is the Main Library Branch of the Dallas Public Library system and is named after J. Erik Jonsson, one of the founders of the world-renowned company, Texas Instruments. Situated directly across from Dallas City Hall, the library is set within a new Modernist building inspired by the design of the Dallas City Hall, consisting of ten stories, eight of which are above ground level and two below. The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library features an original copy of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, an extensive genealogy library, several free exhibits, and free Internet access.
