The African American Museum is an art museum that explores the African American experience with a fascinating range of exhibits and displays. Located on Grand Avenue in Fair Park, the museum was established in 1974 and boasts an impressive collection of African and African American art, and artistic, cultural and historical materials, as well as one of the largest folk art collections in the nation. The museum boasts four vaulted galleries and a research library in which the rich heritage of black art and history is displayed, along with a theater, studio arts area, and classrooms.
