Nestled in the old Catacombs underneath the Montvale Hotel, the Gilded Unicorn is a modern speakeasy and craft cocktail bar with a magical, other-worldly feel. Exuding the ambiance of an ancient European wine cellar with rough-hewn rock walls, the quirky cocktail bar features gaudy décor in natural rock, wood and faux gold, metallic unicorn busts on the walls, and 19th-century paintings in spray-painted gilt frames and has an old-timey and whimsical atmosphere. The dining space has soaring ceilings, bench-lined walls, and a sizeable crackling fireplace, creating a warm and intimate glow, and diners can sip signature cocktails from an impressive craft cocktail menu before tucking into eclectic and elevated American classics served on antique rose-petal plates. Signature dishes include appetizers of brick-fired pretzels, smoky deviled eggs, and Waldorf cheese balls, and exciting entrées of roasted duck wings with apricot honey mustard, and Unicorn Mac-and-Cheese. The Gilded Unicorn is open for dinner, seven nights a week.
