Founded in 2005 by Adam McGovern and Aric Miller, Portland’s Sterling Coffee Roasters serves micro-hand-batch-craft-roasted coffee classics as well as fruity options, such as apple or lemon blend. The coffee shop had humble beginnings as a simple coffee cart and inhabited a couple of other cafés before making its mark on the Portland coffee scene with a brick-and-mortar locale on 21st Avenue. The inviting space has a colorfully wallpapered accent wall, large canvases of artwork, and low hanging globe lights, and friendly staff walk orders to customers and are happy to have a chat. The beverage menu features carefully crafted espressos, pressed coffees, cappuccinos, lattes, mochas, and hot chocolates, which are accompanied by a range of freshly baked scones, cookies, and other pastries.
