The Georgetown Scott County Museum exists to preserve, interpret, and display the history and culture of Scott County for the enjoyment and education of locals and visitors alike.
It was founded in 1992 by the Scott County Historical Society and can be found in what was formerly the city’s Post Office Building. With 12,000 years of prehistoric inhabitants and two centuries of colorful stories and experiences to tell, the museum is perfect for guests who want to learn about the county in fun and engaging ways. Exhibits in the Georgetown Scott Museum include displays on early exploration in the city, the first settlements, and the many developments that happened along the way to form the county into the thriving area that it is today.
