Review:

Greek tradition and western influence harmoniously blend on rocky Syros, also known as Syra, which is the administrative, commercial, and cultural center of the Cyclades. The island’s capital town, Ermoúpoli was the first important trade and industrial center of the country in the 19th century, making the island one of the wealthiest and powerful ports in the eastern Mediterranean. Beautiful public buildings like the City Hall, the Customs Office, the Apollo theatre, and neoclassical houses lining the city squares are evidence of this glorious past, and although Syros does not live off tourism, more visitors arrive each year to soak up its traditional charm.
