Lake Michigan is renowned as one of the best bodies of water in the U.S. for salmon fishing.

Salmon were introduced into Lake Michigan in the 60’s to control numbers of invasive alewife bait fishes.

The salmon not only survived but thrived in Lake Michigan and today anglers come here from all corners of the states to hook a big one.

The prize catch would be a Chinook salmon (considered to be the finest species in the lake) but the smaller and more prolific Coho salmon are just as good to eat and put up a good fight on light tackle.

Fishing methods include spinning/casting and trolling. There are several excellent spots for anglers to explore and a selection of outfitters and guides to bring it all together.
