Land of Yankee Fork State Park is a 521-acre recreation area in the historic mining region nestled between Stanley and Challis that focuses on the history of the region and interprets the rich frontier mining history of Idaho, including the ghost towns of Bonanza, Bayhorse and Custer. The park features an interpretive visitor’s center near the town of Challis with a museum and gold panning station, and several interesting historical sites including the 988-ton Yankee Fork Gold Dredge and the Challis Bison Kill site. Land of the Yankee Fork provides outstanding hiking and mountain trails, as well as primitive and developed camping opportunities on the adjacent National Forest and BLM lands.
