Looking for a friendly, vibrant town just a short drive from OKC? I say, give Edmond a try! I’ve spent time here, and it truly blends that small-town feel with great energy. You’ll find yourself wandering a walkable downtown, relaxing in scenic parks, or enjoying community festivals that really bring people together. Whether you’re into art, food, or just some fresh air, I think you’ll find Edmond has a little something for everyone—and it’s so easy to fall into the rhythm of the place.
Best Time to Visit
If you’re planning a trip, I’d aim for April through June or September through October. I’ve visited in both spring and fall, and the weather couldn’t have been better—warm, but not hot, with just the right amount of breeze for park walks and outdoor events. Spring brings colorful flowers and lively festivals, while fall has crisp air and plenty of seasonal charm. You’ll be able to enjoy Edmond’s trails, farmers markets, and concerts in full swing during these months.
How to Get There
- Driving in? I usually take I-35 or Route 77, which makes Edmond super convenient—just about 25 minutes north of downtown Oklahoma City. It’s a smooth drive, and you’ll be out of the city and into a more relaxed pace in no time.
- Flying? I fly into Will Rogers World Airport (OKC) in Oklahoma City. From there, it’s an easy 35–40 minute drive or rideshare to Edmond. I’ve always found car rentals pretty quick and simple here too.
- Taking a train or bus? While Edmond doesn’t have its own station, I’ve used the Heartland Flyer into OKC and connected from there. If you don’t mind the transfer, it works well enough for a low-stress trip.
Where to Stay
- Hilton Garden Inn Edmond / OKC North – I stayed here during a short business trip, and it hit all the marks: comfy beds, a great on-site restaurant, and easy access to I-35. You’ll feel well taken care of.
- La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Edmond – This is my go-to when I want something comfortable and budget-friendly. The free breakfast is solid, and I’ve enjoyed a dip in the pool more than once on warmer days.
- Stratford House Inn – I stayed here for a weekend getaway and really appreciated the local charm. It’s close to downtown, and you get that “hidden gem” vibe. If you’re after something simple, quiet, and affordable, this might be the one for you.
