The Chattahoochee National Forest in North Georgia offers sites for car camping near the Chattahoochee Gap and the Unicoi Gape, just outside of Helen, Georgia. The rolling forest encompasses 750,000 acres and is home to some of the state’s most popular camping, backpacking, and hiking areas.

The primitive, simple, yet beautiful sites for camping along Forest Road feature only gravel turn-offers for parking and stone fire rings. What they may lack in comfortable features, they make up for in scenery and privacy, nestled in shady hardwood forest. Campsites here are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
