Crystal River is a destination defined by water, starting with river from which the city gets its name, as well as Kings Bay, a natural wonder where the Crystal River sits. The area is a popular refuge for Florida Manatee (Video) during the winter and a first magnitude springs system. The Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge, in fact, is the only refuge committed to preserving and protecting a single animal species in the United States, dedicated to the protection of the manatees.

Hunter’s Springs Park is the city’s most accessible spring, located near downtown, along the shoreline.
