Clark Bay Conservation Area is a 4,795-acre conservation stretching throughout DeLand, protecting significant expanses of mesic and wet flatwoods. The conservation area strives to restore Central Florida habitats that were harmed in the past by the tree farming industry and significant wildfires during the late 20th century. Outdoor recreational opportunities abound for park visitors, including opportunities for wilderness hiking along the wetland swamp basins of Deep and Little Haw Creeks. Visitors can also spot a plethora of native Florida wildlife, ranging from black bears and deer to bald eagles, sandhill cranes, swallow-tailed kites, and migratory songbirds. Other recreational opportunities include equestrian trails and seasonal hunting sites.
