Located in Newark’s South Ward, Weequahic Park surrounds the largest lake in Essex County. The park provides locals and visitors with a brilliant year-round outdoor recreational area which offers an excellent assortment of facilities. Probably the most popular of these facilities is the paved 2.2 mile paved trail around the perimeter of the lake where you can enjoy walking or jogging. There are several stations along the way with work-out equipment. There is also an 18-hole golf course, several sports fields for baseball, softball and basketball and a picnic area with grills. The lake is also great for seasonal paddle sports.
