The The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art was founded to honor and preserve Native American artwork from around the United States and Canada. The museum has three main collections centered on Native American art, western art and contemporary art.

The Native American portion of the museum mainly contains works from tribes like the Miami, Potawatomi, and Delaware, who still call parts of Indiana home. The western collection at the Eiteljorg contains artwork from Georgia O'Keeffe, Robert Henri, and other prominent artists, and the contemporary section at the museum holds Latino and African-American works. The Eiteljorg hosts family-friendly events and celebrations throughout the year.
