Review:

Vulcan, Birmingham’s colossal statue, is the largest cast iron statue in the world and widely held to be one of the most remarkable civic art works in the country. It was created by an Italian artist and cast from local iron in 1904. Thanks to private-public partnerships and a successful multi-million dollar campaign, Vulcan, this symbol of the city of Birmingham and the country’s steel and iron industries, has been preserved as the focal point of an expanded and rehabilitated park that is now called the Vulcan Park and Museum.

The Vulcan Park Foundation runs the Vulcan Park and Museum and its mission is to promote and preserve Vulcan as a symbol for the region, to highlight the city’s culture and history, and to encourage the area’s exploration.
