The Birmingham Museum of Art, founded in 1951, contains one of the Southeast’s finest collections and is supported by a lively educational program. More than 25,000 objects are in the collection, representing cultures as varied as European, Asian, African, American, Native American, and Pre-Columbian.
Highlights include Asian art as well as a collection of Vietnamese ceramics, Renaissance and Baroque paintings, and other works. The museum also features a remarkable Wedgwood collection. The organization connects with area residents through curated exhibitions and various educational programs.
