Review:

The Frank Lloyd Wright's Rosenbaum House in Florence is the only structure in Alabama designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and the only house of its kind in the southeast that can be viewed by the public. The house, of Usonian design, was offered by Wright to middle income families as a low-cost home. It was built for the newly married couple Mildred and Stanley Rosenbaum in 1939, and at the time measured 1,540 square feet.

When the household grew, the Rosenbaums asked Wright to design an addition. Nine years later, 1,084 square feet was added, illustrating Wright’s idea that a Usonian house could grow with the family. The Rosenbaums were the sole occupants and owners of the house until 1999, when the city acquired it and developed plans for its restoration.
