Review:

Carnton is a museum and historic estate in Franklin. The property played a key role in the Battle of Franklin during the American Civil War. The house is on the U.S. National Registry of Historic Places, and the foundation that owns it seeks to preserve the history of the home and educate others about the impact of the Civil War on the area and the nation.

The home and the plantation are open daily for guided tours. Visitors should plan to spend about an hour and a half to two hours exploring the house and grounds. There is a gift shop that sells books about the history of the property and area as well as clothing, gifts, and collectibles.
