The Foothills Art Center first opened in 1968 in what was previously the First Presbyterian Church, and was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1991. The center is home to three galleries which present ever-changing exhibitions of contemporary art produced by local and national artists. The center also hosts several workshops and classes for adults, youth and even pre-school children. In addition, the center provides Open Studio sessions where artists of all levels can spend a few hours painting with their peers and gaining inspiration. One of the highlights of the year is the annual Plein Air Event, open to all artists.
