Review:

Temple Canyon Park is a unique public park along CaƱon City's Grape Creek preserving a spacious natural amphitheater, which was originally discovered by Denver and Rio Grande Railroad workers in 1881 and named "The Temple." The site, which has been operated as a public park since 1912, spans several hundred acres south of the Royal Gorge, offers dramatic views of the Wet Mountains and the former Dawson mining district, known for its unique "mixing bowl" geography and topography. It is believed to have been used as a ceremonial site by the region's indigenous Ute people, originally formed by water seepage into fissures within the natural rock. An undeveloped trail allows visitors to hike along the amphitheater, with camping permitted at a designated overnight campsite.
