Royal Gorge Helitours were founded in 1989 by Mike Pond and are overseen today by expert pilots Eli Plavney and Will Sanders, taking participants on once-in-a-lifetime surveys high above the Royal Gorge, the Arkansas River, and the majesty of the Rocky Mountains. All tours are operated within Robinson R66 helicopters, which are known for their power at high altitudes and seat up to five people at a time. Tours are offered seven days a week between March and September, including Bridge Run tours showcasing the impressive Royal Gorge Bridge, the tallest suspension bridge in the United States. Canyon Run tours traverse the east end of the Royal Gorge, while both sides of the canyon are showcased on Royal Gorge Run tours. Sunrise and sunset tours are available by appointment, with specialty tours of Christmas lights within the Colorado Springs area offered throughout the winter holiday season.
