Review & Frequenly Asked Questions:

Andree Clark Bird Refuge is one of Santa Barbara's largest wildlife refuges, spanning 42 acres of saltwater marsh habitat near the Santa Barbara Zoo and U.S. Highway 101. The park, which was designated in 1928 following land donations by Anna Clark and her daughter Huguette, is one of Santa Barbara's most famed natural gems, home to a 29-acre freshwater lake that serves as an artificially-modified estuary habitat and empties into the Pacific Ocean at East Beach. Three walking paths are offered on the lake's northern shores, along with a bike path on the lake's southeastern perimeter. More than 200 bird species have been observed at the refuge, including threatened species protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
