Founded in 2011 by Khalif and Victoria Rasshan, The African American Museum of Beginnings, or AAMB for short, is committed to providing relevant cultural education to the Pomona Unified School District. What makes the AAMB so special is that it’s a self-funded community museum. As such, the museum works hard to be as historically, culturally, and artistically relevant and educational when it comes to Africans and the African American people. See incredible exhibits focusing on major experiential topics such as Ancient and Classical Africa, Maafa and Resistance, The Contemporary African American, and Local History. With founders who are also former educators in the district, the African American Museum of Beginnings also provides the community with fantastic educational programs and community engagement events.
