Explore the Second Empire-style Phillips Mansion, the luxurious former family home of Louis and Esther Phillips. Once thought to be LA county’s most wealthy man, Louis Phillips’ mansion was completed in 1875 and used to be part of a 12,000-acre ranch. It is located in an area formerly known as the town of Spadra and stayed in the Phillips family’s possession until its sale in the 1940s. Today, the home is owned and has been lovingly restored by the Historical Society of Pomona Valley. Visitors can reserve tours of the property which features eight rooms, 3-foot-thick walls, tall 16-foot ceilings, and 6 beautiful fireplaces. Interestingly, the Phillips Mansion is also one of the first in the Pomona Valley to have gas lighting.
