The Colman Memorial Community Museum was founded by Lois Colman, granddaughter of D.B. Colman, canyon pioneer in 1976 to preserve the history of Butte Creek Canyon. The museum boasts a variety of items relating to the region, including Civil War memorabilia, gold mining equipment, antique tools, an Indian basket collection, 1800s clothing and objects, antique cooking materials, Chinese artifacts, and old-school materials and books. The museum also features the New Maidu Exhibit, the Bridges of Butte Creek Canyon Exhibit, and several changing exhibits.
