Salthill Beach is a charming group of several small beaches separated by rocky outcroppings, located in Galway City overlooking the beautiful Galway Bay, which has been designated as a Special Area of Conservation by the European Union. The beach's sections alternate between pebble and sand cover, with a long promenade connecting beachfront areas and offering public amenities and grassy areas for picnics. Lifeguards are staffed on duty at the beachfront between May and September, making the beach a great spot for family-friendly swimming and other water activities. Nearby, visitors can trek through The Burren National Park or explore a number of area attractions, including the National Aquarium of Ireland.
