Dollymount Strand Beach is a spacious five-kilometer beach that is the closest public beach to Dublin's city center, located on Bull Island and accessible from Clontarf via the Wooden Bridge. The manmade island within Dublin Bay was created in the 19th century as a response to silting problems and is protected as part of the Dublin Bay Biosphere Reserve today by UNESCO, serving as a significant breeding site for a number of native bird species. The beach runs the entire perimeter of the island's coastline, showcasing beautiful sands and sand dune formations throughout the island's eastern shore areas. Large parking areas are available, with lifeguards staffed on duty throughout the summer months to watch over swimmers and paddleboarders. Visitors can also explore the North Bull Island Interpretive Center, which offers exhibits and information on the island's history and wildlife habitats.
