The New York Botanical Garden, located on 250 acres in the Bronx, contains over one million plants from temperate, tropical, and desert regions of the world. The gardens are heavily focused on education and conservation and offer gardening classes for all ages, as well as supplementary courses for adults in botany, botanical illustration, landscape gardening, and art therapy.

The children’s gardening program is tied in to curriculum-based studies. A highlight of the New York Botanical Garden is the annual train show, where miniature enthusiasts can delight in trains traveling through scale reproductions of New York landmarks. For those with limited mobility, a train is available for touring the gardens year round.
