Review:

The beauty of Nickerson State Park is a world away from the sand dunes and salt marshes of Cape Cod. The park is a landscape of undulating rolling hills, dense pine woodlands, and crystal-clear freshwater ponds. These ponds, known as kettle ponds, were formed by retreating glaciers over 10,000 years ago and are entirely dependent on precipitation and groundwater.

Spanning 1,900 acres, Nickerson features over 400 campsites, including yurt camping, as well as an open-air amphitheater and a network of roads, hiking trails and bike paths that connect to the renowned Cape Cod Rail Trail. Visitors can swim or kayak in Flax Pond, catch-and-release fish year-round in the trout-stocked ponds, or enjoy hours of bird- and wildlife- watching throughout the park.
