Review:
Just a short trip from the Tucker House Inn in the historic village of Roche Harbor on San Juan Island, Washington State is John S. McMillin Memorial Mausoleum, a stately, rotunda–style family crypt. John S. McMillin was the founder of the Roche Harbor town, and the owner of the Roche Harbor Lime company that ran a monopoly on the lime business west of the Mississippi River.
McMillin helped rebuild San Francisco after the earthquake by sending much of the needed lime for reconstruction. Feeling the sense of great purpose, he decided to build a monument to celebrate his achievements. He named the family mausoleum the Afterglow Vista. The Mausoleum stands in the center of a ten-acre forest next to Roche Harbor Resort. John McMillin incorporated in the design of the mausoleum many meaningful symbols from the Bible, Masonry, Sigma Chi fraternity and his own family.
