Review & FAQ:

Island Stage Left is a high quality professional theatre located in Friday Harbor, Washington State, which offers theatre experience, free of charge, to all islanders and island visitors, regardless of their financial or social status.

The theatre was established 20 years ago by long-term theatre professionals Helen Machin-Smith and Daniel Mayes, who moved to San Juan Island to bring the performing arts to a small community. Since their inaugural 1999 performance of Shakespeare's 'The Tempest,' the company has produced many Shakespearean and other works ranging from James Goldman's 'The Lion in Winter' to John Patrick Shanley's 'Doubt'. Island Stage Left chooses works that move, speak of the human spirit and challenge. The company has taken many of their productions to other islands in the archipelago, including San Juan, Lopez, Orcas, Waldron, and Shaw.
