Opened in 2011, the Brightwater Center is a treatment facility that purifies waste and storm waters for King County. What’s unique about this center, however, is that it was designed not just to treat waters, but also to be a recreational education destination for locals and visitors alike. Featuring 70-acres of green space, there are tons of walking trails and natural habitats to be explored and hiked through. As a family-friendly center, the hikes are great for beginners and children and will also take guests through various wetland habitats and woodland habitats in an average of 1.5 hours. Hikes around the Brightwater Center are best paired with a visit to the Brightwater Environmental Education and Community Center.
