Once the former home of J. Thomas Newsome, the Newsome House Museum & Cultural Center honors the legacy of the prominent and respected attorney, journalist, churchman, and civic leader, who was famous for his ongoing work in African American history and culture. Known as a gathering spot for the African-American community in the area, the house played an essential role in the culture and history of the region. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and hosts a variety of educational programs and special events throughout the year.
