Review:
For the majority of the 17th and 18th centuries, Sri Lanka was a colony ruled by the Dutch. This museum, located in Colombo, explores the history behind the Dutch colonization of the country and the effect that it had upon the development of Sri Lankan culture. Situated in a historic building that was once the residence of the Dutch governor, and has since seen a variety of other uses, the Dutch Period Museum contains a collection of over 3,000 objects from the Dutch era and explains to its guests the history of these objects as well as of the country.
