Review:

Anyone interested in art, history, and architecture should not leave Helsinki without visiting the lovely Uspenski Cathedral located on the Katajanokka peninsula, just 9 minutes by tram from central Helsinki. The cathedral is the largest Russian Orthodox Church in Western Europe, built between 1862 and 1868 in the Romanesque Revival style, complete with 13 green and gold onion domes, which represent Jesus and the twelve apostles. The exterior of the church is built of dark red bricks, which provides a stark contrast to the gleaming cupolas. Inside the cathedral, you can admire a fascinating display of orthodox decorations that include many icons and elaborate chandeliers suspended from the vaulted ceiling.
