Located in the southern Morgz district of Salzburg, Schloss Hellbrunn (Hellbrunn Palace) is an impressive early Baroque villa surrounded by a beautifully maintained park of natural flora. Built in 1613 by Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg, Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, the villa was named for the ‘clear spring’ that supplied it and features a fully symmetrical façade and yellow rendering. The palace is surrounded by magnificent gardens featuring a variety of trick fountains, such as seats with holes in that spurt water on the unsuspecting guest who sits down.
