Established in 1857, the Grunmarkt (Green Market) is a popular gathering place where locals and visitors alike come to shop for fresh bread, farm-fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, meats, baked goods, and local spirits. Located next to the university church at Universitätsplatz in the heart of the city’s pedestrianized zone, the market is open daily and spreads into Wiener-Philharmoniker-Gasse on Saturdays, which becomes a popular meeting place for young and old.
