This Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to Saint Vincent of Sargossa is a French national monument. Restored after suffering damage at the hands of the Germans during World War II, Saint-Malo Cathedral is a beautiful example of Roman and Gothic architecture. Its stained glass windows depict the religious history of Saint-Malo. Many legends and miracles have been attributed to the 15th century marble statue of the Virgin Mary that sits by the entrance to the sacristy. She is considered the protector of the city and is honored every year on August 15. The church is also the final resting place of French explorer Jacques Cartier.
