Merida, the capital of Mexico's Yucatan state, has a colorful history with both rich Mayan and colonial influences. Other popular attractions include the Mayan World Museum with displays related to Mayan art and history, the city's zoo called the Parque Zoologico del Centenario, and the Palacio Canton, which is a museum with displays related to the area's history and culture.
