Houndstooth Coffee coffee is available brewed in siphons or mixed in popular beverages such as cortados, cappuccinos, and macchiatos. If you don't drink coffee, there is a selection of fine looseleaf teas available as well, including yerba mate, oolong, and fruit and herbal variants.

Houndstooth Coffee is a popular chain of Texas espresso bars, offering two locations in Austin's North Lamar and downtown neighborhoods. The chain, which was founded in 2013 by owner Sean Henry, follows a multi-roaster program bringing blends from top regional and national microroasters, ranging from favorites such as Counter Culture Coffee and Roseline to local brews from Dallas-based affiliate Tweed. Beer and wine are also available alongside a selection of delicious pastries prepared by Bakerman's Bakery.

2. Cafe Nenai

Cafe Nenai is a Cuban and South American-influenced bakery and cafe in Austin's East Riverside neighborhood. Non-coffee beverages include herbal alojas, peach smoothies, and Mexican mineral waters, along with authentic Brazilian-style guarana sodas. Feel free to arrive hungry. A wide variety of South American regional fare is served up alongside beverages, including empanadas, arepas, and Paraguayan chipa cheese bread.

Cafe Nenai opened in February of 2017 by Paraguay native and New York transplant Elena Sanguinetti. The cafe, which Sanguinetti co-owns with her daughter, specializes in authentic Cuban-style coffee beverages, including cortaditos, cafecitos, and cocido con leches, which blend milk and yerba mate tea in the style of a cafe con leche.

3. Caffe Medici

Caffe Medici is a longtime staple in Austin. A variety of public special events are offered at all of the coffee shop's locations throughout the month, including live music performances. You can even rent the space for a birthday celebration and other occasions.

Caffe Medici offers several locations throughout the city, including its original flagship location in Clarksville and a walk-up coffee bar window on Congress Avenue. The company, which was founded by Michael Vaclav and opened its first location in September of 2006, serves up signature espresso beverages crafted with Minneapolis-based Spyhouse Coffee Roasters' Orion blend, which highlights chocolate and fruit notes. Daily house coffee is sourced by Wild Gift, with up to three single-origin coffees also available at any given time.

4. Epoch Coffee

Epoch Coffee beverages are available hot or iced, ranging from simple favorites such as cubanos and cafe au lait to blended flavored lattes and espressos. Smoothies are also served up, along with draft sodas, iced teas, and a variety of juices. Food options range from pizza slices and sandwiches to croissants, scones, danishes, and other pastries.

Epoch Coffee is an Austin-based coffee chain offering five locations throughout the city, including its flagship North Loop location, which was originally opened to the public in 2006. The coffee shop's original location is open to the public 24 hours a day, serving everyone from early morning risers to late-night explorers looking for a refuel.

5. Hank's

Hank's serves up a wide variety of clever coffee shop beverages, including mint cold brews, seasonally-flavored iced mochas, dirty chai lattes, and pours of the shop's house blend whole-bean coffee, brewed by Texas Coffee Traders.

Hank's is a casual American-style restaurant, cafe, and bar in Austin's Windsor Park neighborhood, originally opened to the public in 2018 by Jessie Katz and Andy Means. The cafe, which is named in honor of Means' grandfather, Non-coffee beverages include Arnold Palmers, Buddha's Brew kombucha, Maine root sodas, and turmeric, lemon, or ginger-flavored Glow Juice. Diners can enjoy a wide range of Californian-influenced comfort fare at brunch, lunch, and dinner, paired with fine wines or national-favorite craft brews on draft.

6. Jo's Coffee

Jo's Coffee is known for its iconic "I Love You So Much" exterior graffiti. It's a popular community hub where you can watch live music performances, film showings, and fundraiser events throughout the month. Jo's Coffee is a beloved coffee shop in Austin's South Congress district, opened to the public in 1999 within the parking lot of the Hotel San José. The cafe, which has become Coffee drinks are served up daily beginning at 7:00am, including the cafe's signature iced turbo, which blends coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, and cream over crushed ice. Hot and cold deli sandwiches, oatmeal, granola, and baked goods are also available.

7. Patika Coffee

Patika Coffee is a bustling cafe and restaurant in Austin's South Lamar district, originally opened in 2010 as a coffee cart in the city's downtown region. The cafe, which was named as 2017's reader's choice best coffee shop by Austin Monthly, is named in honor of the Turkish word for "footpath," a nod to the creation of the modern coffee shop in the city of Istanbul.

At its permanent location, housed within a revitalized 1940s-era historic building remodeled by architect Elizabeth Baird and interior design company Ayala Design, diners can enjoy brews sourced from the cafe's multi-roaster program, including single-cup and espresso options. Breakfast and lunch are served daily, highlighting options such as quinoa bowls, no-dough quiches, and Mexican-inspired chilaquiles.

Bennu Coffee is best known for its Chameleon Cold Brew line, which is nationally distributed and was awarded BevNET's Best Coffee award in 2014. Double-shot espressos and Americanos are also served up daily, along with Ladybird Provisions coffee bombs in delicious flavors such as Vanilla Thunder, Holy Cacao, and Peace Love and Hempyness. Grab-and-go food options are sourced from a variety of Austin-area vendors.

Bennu Coffee is one of Austin's favorite 24-hour coffee shops, originally opened by Stephanie and Steve Williams in 2009. Today, the independently-operated coffee shop offers two locations throughout the city, including a South Congress location occupying the former Dominican Joe's space.
