Located 45 miles east of Rochester, the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge is a wonderful day trip destination for birders, nature lovers and inquisitive children. The refuge offers sanctuary to many resident and migratory birds and is one of just a few places where visitors could spot bald eagles at any time of the year. You can pick up leaflets and brochures at the Visitor Center before spending a few wonderful birding hours along the 3.5 mile Wildlife Drive (only accessible from April until the first snows of winter). You can view the birds and other wildlife on foot along the Seneca Trail, the Esker Brook Trail and the South Spring Pool trail.
