Wellington State Park is a 204-acre state park surrounding Newfound Lake in Bristol that features the largest freshwater swimming beach in the state and offers a variety of activities including swimming, sunbathing, pleasure boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking, and picnicking. Peninsula hiking and nature trails provide spectacular views of the crystal-clear waters of the lake and provide access to points of interest such as Welton Falls, Goose Pond, Bear Mountain, Mt. Cardigan, and the Sugarloafs. Other facilities in the park include volleyball and horseshoe courts, picnic tables and gas grills, a snack bar selling picnic essentials and simple fare, and a boat launch for year-round access to Newfound Lake.
