The Hayswood Nature Reserve covers an enormous 311 acres, about two-thirds of which is open to the public to enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities. 130 acres has been preserved in its original wooded state, intended to preserve nature and the habitat. In this section you can go for nature walks and hikes along the trails but no commercial activities are allowed. The other 180 acres forms a park-like recreational area with children’s playgrounds, picnic areas, modern restrooms and a small lake with an accessible fishing pier. There are also walking and hiking trails in this part of the reserve and multi-use areas for ball games.
