To fully immerse your-self in the historic past of Granada, a walk along the romantic Carrera del Darro is highly recommended. Carrera del Darro refers to the entire left bank of the River Darro and translates as the Gold Road. Walking along this ancient cobble-stone pathway, which appears to hang over the edge of the river, is particularly scenic. As you make your way past two of the remaining arched bridges, you can stop here and there to admire several 16th and 17th century buildings which line the road. There are many cafes and bars along the way and many excellent viewpoints for photos of the Alhambra, towering above you.
