Located within west-central Wyoming, Sinks Canyon State Park is nestled within the Wind River Mountains along the Popo Agie River’s middle fork. The park gets its name from the distinctive geological phenomena on its grounds in which the river disappears into the limestone cavern, reappearing further down in a placid, rainbow trout-filled pool. The Sinks Canyon offers an array of recreation activities, such as mountain biking, world-class rock climbing, hiking, fishing, camping, photography, and nature studies. A number of small campgrounds can be found along the river. All of the sites are primitive, but offer pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire pits.
