The Sea Lion Caves just north of Florence, Oregon are a privately-owned bird sanctuary and wildlife preserve that has been around since the year 1932. The grounds are centrally located along the rugged and gorgeous coast of Oregon and are part of the state’s Oregon/Cape Perpetua Marine Reserve, which helps protect the local marine environment and animals. What makes the Sea Lion Caves a great thing to do with kids is that the site is the largest sea cave in the United States, and home to Steller Sea Lions, who can be seen in or around the cave throughout the year.
