Dating back to the 17th century, the Eglise Saint-Francois de Sales is a Catholic church featuring a design similar to that of the Church of the Gesù in Rome. Featuring a simple white facade and Baroque interiors, the church remains a house of worship for the Italian community. Situated not too far away from the Palais de L’Ile across the Thiou River, the historic site previously served as the final resting place of François de Sales, a Bishop of Geneva who spent much time in Annecy and St. Jean de Chantal. Today, the church hosts regular mass service and events.
