Review:
Basel Zoo , also known as the Basel Zoological Garden or Zolli, is the oldest zoo in Switzerland, home to the largest collection of animals at any zoological park in the country. The zoo was opened in 1874 and is noted as the site of major first breedings, including the first zoo births of an Indian rhinoceros and a flamingo hatch. It is Switzerland's most popular tourist attraction, welcoming more than 1.8 million visitors annually, and has been rated as one of the world's best zoos by Forbes Traveler and the Zoological Society of London. The 32-acre zoo is home to nearly 7,000 animals across 645 species, including an extensive aquarium population, and is a member facility of major zoological organizations such as the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
